Born and raised in Arizona, Hopi Tribal member. I attended boarding school in Holbrook. I have an associate degree from Estrella Mountain Community College, a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University, and a graduate degree in education from Northern Arizona University.
I am retired and reside in Kykotsmovi Village on the Hopi Indian Reservation. I served as the Hopi Tribe’s Director of Community Planning and Economic Development and Director of Health and Human Services. I retired after serving 22 years of active duty in the United States Army. I am a Morris K. Udall Foundation Native American Congressional Intern and had the honor of interning in Washington, D.C., in the office of the late Senator John McCain. I was appointed by Arizona governors to serve on the Arizona Council on Small Business, the Arizona Rural Development Council, the Arizona Charter School Board, and the Arizona Health Authority Board. I have also served on my village community boards and with veterans’ organizations. I have been married to my high school sweetheart (Dine') for 50 years, and together we have two daughters and two grandsons.
I am running as a write-in candidate for the Arizona State House, Legislative District 6, to continue serving our communities with experience, dedication, and a strong commitment to Arizona’s future.
My name is Royce “R J” Jenkins, and I am running as a Write‑In Candidate for the Arizona State House in Legislative District 6 because I understand our rural communities deserve honest, compassionate, and effective representation. I will work with both parties to support District 6. I respectfully asking for your support, your trust, and your vote as I work diligently to serve LD6 with integrity, transparency, and a solution-focused approach.
LD6 residents know the issues we face aren’t abstract, they shape everyday life. My priorities are grounded in what families, elders, workers, and young people are living right now.
Cultural Disparities
Expanding equitable access to services, resources, and opportunities for every community—tribal, rural, and urban—so no one is left behind because of where they live or who they are.
Rural Economic Development
Strengthening small businesses, agriculture, and local infrastructure to create good-paying jobs, support family-owned enterprises, and build sustainable growth that keeps our communities thriving.
Health and Mental Health
Improving access to quality healthcare and mental health services, especially in underserved and rural areas, so people can get care close to home without long waits or long drives.
Judicial Fairness
Supporting a justice system that is fair, accountable, and transparent—one that protects the rights and safety of all residents and treats every person with dignity.
Education
Investing in schools, teachers, and students so every child in LD6 has the tools to succeed—strong public schools, culturally relevant curriculum, and support for educators who are the backbone of our communities.
Public Safety
Partnering with law enforcement, tribal agencies, and community organizations to keep neighborhoods safe through trust, collaboration, and prevention—not just reaction.
Veteran Issues
Improving access to benefits, healthcare, housing, and job opportunities for veterans and their families, honoring the service and sacrifice they’ve given to all of us.
I pledge to listen first, act transparently, and bring practical, community-driven solutions to the State House that reflect the values and needs of LD6. I will be accessible, responsive, and accountable—your voice will guide my priorities, not special interests or party politics.
